Biography
Darin Simmons earned a Bachelor of Arts in Government and African & African American Studies from the University of Virginia, a Master of Education Leadership, and a Master of Business Administration from George Mason University. Darin is currently a doctoral student in Education Policy at American University and will be completing a certificate in Education Finance from Georgetown University.
Throughout his career, Darin has moved between management consulting roles and Pk-12 public school leadership roles, most recently serving as the Chief Operating Officer for Richmond Public Schools. Currently, Darin is the COO for Bottom Line, a national nonprofit organization that works to get first generation students and low-income high school students into college, and supports them through graduation.
From his first role as a high school social studies teacher in St. Louis to his most recent role as the Chief Operating Officer for Richmond Public Schools in Virginia, Darin has viewed educational equity as a social justice issue, and has worked to promote Diversity, Equity and Inclusion efforts in every organization that he has been a part of.
