There has been a flurry of activity in federal acquisition this year. From the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) efforts across federal agencies to the numerous reform initiatives in defense acquisition and the Federal Acquisition Regulation, these activities are having a major impact on today’s government contracting industrial base. The timing was ideal for bringing together government, industry, and academia for a serious discussion about the current performance of and future prospects for the government contracting community.
The Future of Federal Acquisition was presented in two parts:
- A fireside Chat with Larry Allen, Associate Administrator, Office of Government-wide Policy, General Services Administration, on incentivizing the federal supplier base
- A CEO panel on the financial health of the federal supplier base with Greg Baroni, Attain Enterprises; and Toni Townes-Whitley, SAIC.
The event will also featured the publication of the Center’s inaugural Government Contracting Trends and Performance Index. The Index is the first broad analysis of the $800 billion government contracting industrial base that supports the functioning of the U.S. Federal government. It also establishes the first-of-its kind Financial Performance Index based on the self-evaluated performance of firms representing the broad size and scope of the government contracting community.
