This is a Student Internship position under the Pathways Internship Program.
To qualify for this Internship, you MUST be a continuing student enrolled or accepted for enrollment for the current/upcoming semesters for the duration of the internship as a condition of employment, taking at least a half-time course load. You will be required to provide documentation to support eligibility. Students may be employed throughout the academic year.
Duties
The Student Trainee (Information Technology) Pathways Intern will:
- Assists technicians with routine procedures to ensure smooth operation of the computer systems assigned.
- Assists with system installation operation, communication and maintenance, e.g., helps to set-up new PC workstations, assists with LAN installations, performs minor system maintenance and/or upgrades, etc.
- Assists technicians in fact-finding to define and describe the objectives, purposes and procedures of the work involved.
- Assists in reviewing software packages, reports, procedural manuals, and processing objectives to discern similar but differing requirements for application to the agency’s information processing requirements.
- Applies basic knowledge of programming techniques, equipment characteristics, system and network software characteristics, and security regulation standards to evaluate the effectiveness of systems, devices, procedures, and methods used to safeguard all automated systems, classified and privacy data in computer accessible media.
