The Congressional Research Service (CRS), Domestic Social Policy Division (DSP) seeks an Analyst in Health Policy for its Health Services and Research (HSR) Section, a unit that covers a broad range of public health issues, health services for specific populations such as veterans and Native Americans, along with topics such as maternal and child health, behavioral health care, and cross-cutting issues such as access, quality, and cost of health care.
CRS analysts provide objective, non-partisan, confidential legislative support and analysis to Congress across all phases of the legislative process. Analysts work in a dynamic environment providing real-time support to Members, committees, and staff including written analysis and information, consultations, and participation in formal briefings and other meetings. The work often requires rapid response to emerging policy issues during the legislative process.
Applicants should have substantive program knowledge and experience conducting relevant legislative and regulatory analysis of policy issues related to maternal and child health, and reproductive health. Applicants should also have knowledge of other relevant public health, health services, and/or health policy topics. Strong research, writing, and presentation skills and the ability to work as part of a collaborative team and to be responsive under time pressure are essential for success in this position.
