As war in Ukraine continues and the threat of other conflicts around the world looms, The Wall Street Journal reports that U.S. policy makers must now grapple with constraints of consolidation and a supply chain built for yesterday's threat environment.
George Mason University's Jerry McGinn, Ph.D., Executive Director of the Greg and Camille Baroni Center for Government Contracting, weighs in on the challenges and impact of industry consolidation in the defense sector.
"Ukraine has shown that our approach to acquisition since the end of the Cold War has got a downside," says McGinn. "Scaling up production for the Javelin is a challenge...because of the way we procure...."
