VDOT’s Internship Program gives Interns exposure to the diverse types of work the Department performs and prepares them for a future career in transportation. This program also gives Interns hands-on job assignments and the opportunity to work closely with a diverse group of professionals, with structured training opportunities that align with VDOTs current and projected workforce needs.
SUMMER WORK EXPERIENCE
Interns spend the summer working on unique projects and activities. In addition, interns will have the opportunity to network with other interns.
VDOT is seeking students majoring in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Information Technology, Communications, Data Science and other business related areas. We are seeking candidates with strong analytical skills, interpersonal and presentation skills, customer service, time management and organizational skills.
THE LOCATION:
Located in the northeastern corner of Virginia just outside of the nation’s capital, the Northern Virginia District comprises the three most populous counties in the state: Fairfax, Loudoun, Prince William, as well as the sixth most populous Arlington. While Northern Virginia covers about four percent of the state’s land area, it is home to about a quarter of the state’s population at more than 2 million. Major cities include Alexandria, Falls Church, City of Fairfax, Manassas and Manassas Park; towns include Clifton, Herndon, Leesburg, Purcellville, Dumfries, Occoquan and Vienna.
