Earning (or working towards) a CFA charter is an effective way to signal to employers, colleagues, and clients that you have a solid foundation in advanced investment, analysis, and real-world portfolio management skills.

CFA Exams & Scholarships

One of the requirements to becoming a CFA is to pass three increasingly rigorous exams, which are offered quarterly.  Much of the material on the level 1 exam is covered in our finance courses.  In fact, Mason participates in the University affiliation program and one of the requirements is that our courses cover a substantial portion of the CFA curriculum. Nonetheless, additional study will likely be required, and the CFA has resources to help students prepare for the exams.

Being a member of the University affiliation program includes benefits such as being able to provide several scholarships to help defray the cost of taking the CFA exams.  There’s a short application, which is sent to a committee, which meets periodically, reviews the applications, and makes decisions on awarding them.  More information on this and other scholarship opportunities can be found on the CFA Scholarships website
